Log Cabin Addition
 
 
 
 
Situated on a large estate horse farm in Sewickley Heights, this beautiful historic farmhouse has experienced several additions and renovations over the years.
 
Beautiful panoramic views exist from every window in the home. The original two-story portion of the house is positioned in the middle section of the structure, with additions that complement the original structure to the sides. Our client requested a log cabin addition that would appear as if it was the original structure.
 
The design for the new log cabin was achieved from a reclaimed cabin in central Pennsylvania. All of the components of the cabin were each labeled as a kit of parts and shipped to the Sewickley residence. A new hallway was incorporated with a wall of south facing windows to link the existing structure to the new log cabin. On the first floor of the cabin is a sitting area with a large wood-burning fireplace. The second floor incorporated a game room for entertaining.
 
The structure was designed with new structural insulated roof panels and a new concrete foundation. The walls were insulated between the logs with a new insulation spray foam that provides the character of the original structure but adds “R” value to the envelope.
